United Spirits on Tuesday said it received a notice from the Water Resources Department,Irrigation Division - Nanded, Maharashtra, to pay water charge arrears of Rs 345.45 crore.

The notice has been issued pertaining to the stoppage of water supply under Section 49(J) of theMaharashtra Irrigation Act, 1976.

The notice demands the company to pay water charge arrears accumulated from November2018 to April 2024, within seven days of receipt.

United Spirits has disputed the higher tariff levied on its Nanded unit and has filed a writ petitionbefore the Bombay High Court, making the matter sub judice.
