Tata Motors Ltd., formerly known as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO) is a prominent Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1945, it is a part of the Tata Group, one of India's largest conglomerates.   

Tata Motors Limited is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India. History

Tata Motors traces its origins back to 1945 when it commenced operations as a locomotive manufacturer. In 1954, Tata Group ventured into the commercial vehicle sector through a collaborative effort with Daimler-Benz of Germany, establishing a manufacturing facility in Jamshedpur dedicated to Daimler lorries. In November of the same year, the partnership bore fruit as Tata and Daimler rolled out their inaugural goods carrier chassis from their Jamshedpur plant.
 

Tata Motors made its foray into the passenger vehicle market in 1991 with the introduction of the Tata Sierra, a sport utility vehicle built upon the Tata Mobile platform. Subsequently, the company introduced the Tata Estate in 1992, featuring a station wagon design derived from the earlier Tata Mobile model. This was followed by the launch of the Tata Sumo in 1994, a robust 5-door SUV, and the Tata Safari in 1998, further diversifying its product portfolio.

Flagship car models: Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor, Tata Altroz, Tata Nexon, and Tata Harrier.   

Commercial vehicle segment: Manufactures trucks, buses, and vans under various brands such as Tata Ace, Tata Ultra, Tata Prima, and Tata Signa.  

Luxury SUVs: Crafts luxury SUVs under the prestigious British marque Jaguar Land Rover   

Defence vehicles: Manufactures Tata Kestrel and the Tata Safari Storme 4x4 defence vehicles.   

Electric vehicles (EVs): Expanded its footprint and developed a range of electric vehicles such as Tiago EV and Nexon EV.

Operates through its South Korean subsidiary, Tata Daewoo, and a wholly-owned subsidiary, Tata Marcopolo Motors Limited, focusing on the production of commercial vehicles.

A division of Tata Motors that manufactures passenger cars. Tata Marcopolo

Fiat-Tata
