Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders signs pact with US Navy to service its fleet

Thursday, September 7, saw the official signing of a Master Ship Repair Agreement (MSRA) between the US government, represented by NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Centre (FLC) Yokosuka, and Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL).

According to a stock exchange filing, this non-financial agreement is of significant strategic significance and places MDL as one of only two shipyards in the nation to have done so.

" The MSRA marks a significant step for Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, enabling them to offer voyage repairs to US Navy ships, thereby enhancing India's maritime capabilities. This agreement empowers MDL to deliver essential repair and maintenance services to the US Navy fleet. The MSRA, a legally non-binding arrangement between the US Navy and private shipbuilding contractors, involves a meticulous vetting process to pre-approve shipyards for repairing US naval vessels.
