About Grasim Industries Ltd
Grasim Industries Limited is a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, with a very diversified business. The company primarily produces viscose and cement, which account for more than 90% of its revenue and operating profit. It has moved into several sectors over the years. This is a NBFC that deals with asset management and life insurance. The Aditya Birla Group's flagship company, Grasim Industries Limited, is one of India's most prominent private sector businesses. It is a significant player on the international stage in the production of viscose staple fibre (VSF), major chemicals (Chlor-Alkalis), India's largest cement maker, and a variety of financial services (NBFC, asset management, and life insurance). A chemical business has been established due to its crucial role in creating VSF and accomplishing backward integration. It is the first manufacturer of viscose staple fibre (VSF), a synthetic, biodegradable fibre with properties akin to cotton, in India. Viscose (Pulp, Fibre, and Yarn), Chemicals (Caustic Soda, Epoxy, and related Chemicals), and Others (Insulators, Textiles, Fertilisers, and Solar Power Designing, Engineering Procurement, and Commissioning) are its main business segments. Through its holdings in Aditya Birla Capital Limited ABNBCL, it has a presence in the financial services sector. For all the Aditya Birla Group's financial services businesses, ABCL is a holding company. ABCL is well-established in the life insurance, asset management, corporate lending, structured finance, wealth management, equity, currency, commodity broking, online personal finance management, housing finance, pension fund management, and health insurance industries. In 1947, just ten days after independence, Grasim Industries was founded. The inspiration behind the idea was Mr. G D Birla's vision that there would be an acute shortage of cotton in this country. In 1950, the first plant was set up in Gwalior and started producing fabrics from synthetic rayon imports. It has been diversifying into other sectors ever since, setting up new plants nationwide. In 1954, Grasim began production for VSF, and in 1962 it created an engineering division dedicated to plant and machinery. The composite textile plant in Haryana opened in 1963, while rayon manufacture in Kerala opened its doors in 1968. In 1985, they started a cement business with Vikram Cement. Birla International Marketing Co. was set up to provide IT consulting and software development services between 1992 and 1993 and started a company called Birla Consultancy & Software Services from 1993 onwards. In October 2007, under the Companies Act 1956, Aditya Birla Financial Services Private Ltd. was incorporated in May 2009. It received a Certificate of Registration from the Reserve Bank of India to start its activities as a NBFC. It was changed into a limited liability corporation in 2014. In June 2017, the company changed its name to Aditya Birla Capital Limited. You can track the Grasim Industries Ltd. share price & analyse the stocks of Grasim industries.
