The Nifty500 Multicap Infrastructure 50:30:20 Index is designed to monitor the performance of a subset of the Nifty 500 index's large, mid, and small-cap stocks that are representative of the infrastructure theme. The weight of the stocks in nifty multi-infra is determined by the free-float market capitalization of each stock, with a set 50% overall weight assigned to the large-cap, 30% to the mid-cap, and 20% to the small-cap segments. 10% is the maximum stock weight that can be used during nifty infrastructure index rebalancing.

Nifty500 Multicap Infrastructure 50:30:20 Index Methodology 

  • The base value of the nifty infra index is 1000, and its base date is April 1, 2005.
  • Stocks that are currently included in or planned to be included in the Nifty 500 index at the time of review are eligible to be added to the index.
  • Based on free-float market capitalization from the eligible universe, with preference given to stocks that are available for trading on NSE's F&O segment, 15 companies from the large cap universe (stocks that are part of the Nifty 100), 25 companies from the mid-cap universe (stocks that are part of the Nifty Midcap 150), and 35 companies from the small-cap universe (stocks that are part of the Nifty Smallcap 250) were selected.
  • 50% of the total weight is fixed for the large-cap section, 30% for the mid-cap segment, and 20% for the small-cap segment.
  • Each stock's weight in the index is determined by its market capitalization in free float.
  • The nifty 500 multicap index fund undergoes semi-annual reconstitution and quarterly rebalancing.
