Castrol India Limited was incorporated in 1979 as a private limited company under the name of Indrol Lubricants and Specialities Pvt.
Ltd. In year 1982, the company was converted into a public limited company and the name of the Company was changed to 'Indrol Lubricants and Specialities Limited' and further the name was changed to the present 'Castrol India Limited' on November 1, 1990.
The Company is a part of Castrol Limited UK (part of BP Group).
BP through its wholly owned subsidiary, Castrol Limited UK holds 51% stake in Castrol India.
It is engaged in the business of manufacturing & marketing of automotive and industrial lubricants and related services.
It has three manufacturing plants located at Patalganga in Maharashtra, Paharpur in West Bengal and Silvassa (Union Territory).

About Cochin Minerals & Rutile Ltd
Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), a company established in the late 80's, is in the business of manufacturing Synthetic Rutile, Ferrous Chloride, Ferric Chloride, Iron Hydroxide (Cemox), Recovered Ti02, Recovered Upgraded Ilmenite, CMRL BF Protector and Rutoweld.
The annual licensed and installed capacity is 50000 MT. These products finds application as raw material for the Titanium pigment and titanium sponge /metal industry.
For this, it has put up a plant at Aluva in Kerala.
It came out with a public issue in 1991-92 to part-finance this project.
The commercial production commenced in Jul 1993 after delayed for more than six months.
To part-finance the cost escalation (due to delay in the implementation of the project) it came out with a Rights Issue in 1993-94.
The company also manufactures off grade titanium dioxide apart from synthetic rutile and ferric chloride.
