History of Dabur India
Dabur India Ltd, founded in 1884 by Dr. S.K. Burman, was initially a small Ayurvedic medicine company. As demand for its products grew, the company established its first manufacturing plant in 1896. In the early 1900s, Dabur specialized in nature-based Ayurvedic medicines, filling a market gap for standardized drugs. In 1919, the company established research laboratories to ensure quality. In 1936, Dabur officially became a company, and in 1972, it expanded its operations to Delhi and Faridabad. In 1979, the company established the Sahibabad factory and Dabur Research & Development Centre. By 1986, Dabur became a public limited company. In 2005, the company adopted professional management practices, and by 2012, it had surpassed a billion-dollar turnover. Dabur continues to expand internationally, with a market capitalization of over ₹1,000 crore.
