GNFC is a joint sector enterprise promoted by the Government of Gujarat and Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. (GSFC).

The company has set up core Chemical and Petrochemical Plants such as Methanol, Formic Acid, Nitric Acid, Acetic Acid, Toluene Di-Isocyanate, Aniline, Ammonium Nitrate, Ethyl Acetate, Methyl Formate, etc.
The company is the only producer of Acetic Acid and one of the two producers of Formic Acid in India and has largest single stream Aniline plant in India.

Incorporated in 1986, Vinyl Chemicals (I) Limited is dealing in chemicals, mainly Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM).
It was promoted by the Parekh Group - a well-known group which manufactures and sells the Fevicol brand of adhesives, synthetic resins, binders, surfactants, pigments, etc - and SICOM, a Government of Maharashtra enterprise.
The Company is engaged mainly in trading of Vinyl Acetate Monomer.
Uhde Gmbh, Germany, (a subsidary of Hoechst) has provided the technology for manufacturing Vinyl Acetate Monomer.

This is the first company to manufacture VAM directly from petrochemical ethylene.
