Balmer Lawrie & Company

Net sales (including other operating income) of Balmer Lawrie & Company has increased 7.83% to Rs 630.41 crore.  Sales of Industrial Packaging segment has gone up 1.96% to Rs 186.85 crore (accounting for 27.67% of total sales).  Sales of Logistics Services segment has gone up 54.22% to Rs 159.92 crore (accounting for 23.69% of total sales).  Sales of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment rose 0.73% to Rs 66.79 crore (accounting for 9.89% of total sales).  Sales of Travel & Vacations segment has gone down 53.54% to Rs 81.65 crore (accounting for 12.09% of total sales).  Sales of Greases & Lubricants segment has gone up 243.34% to Rs 150.83 crore (accounting for 22.34% of total sales).  Sales of Others segment has gone down 51.97% to Rs 29.12 crore (accounting for 4.31% of total sales).  Inter-segment sales came down from Rs 48.92 crore to Rs 44.76 crore. 

Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 10.81% to Rs 77.21 crore.  PBIT of Industrial Packaging segment rose 17.25% to Rs 13.16 crore (accounting for 17.05% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Logistics Services segment rose 49.38% to Rs 23.85 crore (accounting for 30.88% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment fell 74.81% to Rs 6.98 crore (accounting for 9.03% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Travel & Vacations segment rose 21.62% to Rs 33.33 crore (accounting for 43.16% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Greases & Lubricants reported profit of Rs 19.82 crore compared to loss of Rs 21.24 crore.  PBIT of Others reported loss of Rs 19.91 crore compared to profit of Rs 8.64 crore. 

PBIT margin of Industrial Packaging segment rose from 6.13% to 7.04%.  PBIT margin of Logistics Services segment fell from 15.39% to 14.91%.  PBIT margin of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment fell from 41.76% to 10.44%.  PBIT margin of Travel & Vacations segment rose from 15.59% to 40.82%.  PBIT margin of Greases & Lubricants segment rose from negative 48.35% to 13.14%.  PBIT margin of Others segment fell from 14.25% to 68.40%.  Overall PBIT margin rose from 11.00% to 11.44%. 

Operating profit margin has jumped from 12.58% to 13.31%, leading to 14.10% rise in operating profit to Rs 83.92 crore.  Raw material cost as a % of total sales (net of stock adjustments) increased from 62.01% to 64.51%.   Purchase of finished goods cost fell from 3.66% to 1.03%.   Employee cost decreased from 9.73% to 9.47%.   Other expenses fell from 12.03% to 11.73%.  

Other income fell 18.12% to Rs 8.63 crore.  PBIDT rose 10.06% to Rs 92.55 crore.  Provision for interest rose 70.09% to Rs 9.27 crore. 

PBDT rose 5.90% to Rs 83.28 crore.  Provision for depreciation rose 6.46% to Rs 15.33 crore. 

Profit before tax grew 5.78% to Rs 67.95 crore.  Share of profit/loss was 18.49% lower at Rs 13.58 crore.  Provision for tax was expense of Rs 19.8 crore, compared to Rs 15.22 crore.  Effective tax rate was 24.29% compared to 18.81%.

Minority interest decreased 189.36% to Rs -2.72 crore.  Net profit attributable to owners of the company decreased 3.26% to Rs 64.45 crore. 

For year-to-date (YTD) results analysis

Net sales (including other operating income) of Balmer Lawrie & Company has increased 8.22% to Rs 1907.48 crore.  Sales of Industrial Packaging segment has gone up 1.84% to Rs 649.56 crore (accounting for 31.81% of total sales).  Sales of Logistics Services segment has gone up 37.43% to Rs 420.65 crore (accounting for 20.60% of total sales).  Sales of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment rose 16.94% to Rs 191.77 crore (accounting for 9.39% of total sales).  Sales of Travel & Vacations segment has gone down 58.03% to Rs 212.65 crore (accounting for 10.41% of total sales).  Sales of Greases & Lubricants segment has gone up 361.05% to Rs 471.27 crore (accounting for 23.08% of total sales).  Sales of Others segment has gone down 45.72% to Rs 96.25 crore (accounting for 4.71% of total sales).  Inter-segment sales rose Rs 131.53 crore to Rs 134.67 crore. 

Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 1.70% to Rs 206.24 crore.  PBIT of Industrial Packaging segment fell 6.65% to Rs 43.40 crore (accounting for 21.05% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Logistics Services segment rose 51.39% to Rs 60.97 crore (accounting for 29.56% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment fell 72.21% to Rs 19.73 crore (accounting for 9.57% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Travel & Vacations segment rose 22.31% to Rs 84.00 crore (accounting for 40.73% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Greases & Lubricants reported profit of Rs 56.00 crore compared to loss of Rs 49.23 crore.  PBIT of Others reported loss of Rs 57.86 crore compared to profit of Rs 25.59 crore. 

PBIT margin of Industrial Packaging segment fell from 7.29% to 6.68%.  PBIT margin of Logistics Services segment rose from 13.16% to 14.49%.  PBIT margin of Logistics InfrastructureLogistics Infrastructure segment fell from 43.30% to 10.29%.  PBIT margin of Travel & Vacations segment rose from 13.56% to 39.50%.  PBIT margin of Greases & Lubricants segment rose from negative 48.17% to 11.88%.  PBIT margin of Others segment fell from 14.43% to 60.11%.  Overall PBIT margin fell from 10.71% to 10.10%. 

Operating profit margin has declined from 12.10% to 11.43%, leading to 2.24% rise in operating profit to Rs 217.96 crore.  Raw material cost as a % of total sales (net of stock adjustments) increased from 63.95% to 64.97%.   Purchase of finished goods cost fell from 2.33% to 1.94%.   Employee cost decreased from 9.75% to 9.68%.   Other expenses rose from 11.85% to 11.96%.  

Other income fell 2.82% to Rs 32.39 crore.  PBIDT rose 1.55% to Rs 250.35 crore.  Provision for interest rose 25.99% to Rs 20.46 crore. 

PBDT fell 0.17% to Rs 229.89 crore.  Provision for depreciation rose 0.92% to Rs 44.11 crore. 

Profit before tax down 0.42% to Rs 185.78 crore.  Share of profit/loss was 8.49% higher at Rs 49.72 crore.  Provision for tax was expense of Rs 49.74 crore, compared to Rs 48.34 crore.  Effective tax rate was 21.12% compared to 20.80%.

Minority interest decreased 35.12% to Rs -5.04 crore.  Net profit attributable to owners of the company increased 1.60% to Rs 190.80 crore.
