Their Engineering & Construction Division uses front-end design to plan, create, and carry out projects in the petroleum industry. Heavy Engineering Independent Company and Ship Building Independent Company are independent businesses established inside the heavy engineering unit.
The Electrical and Automation Independent Company and the Medical Equipment and Systems Business are part of its Electrical & Electronics division.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd. is present internationally with a worldwide network of offices. Export earnings have grown substantially because of an increased focus on international trade. About The Company
Larsen & Toubro Ltd was founded in 1946 as a privately owned company. In the past, it was formed as a partnership by two Danish engineers, Henning Holk Larsen and Soren Kristian Toubro, in Mumbai. The Company became a public company with a paid-up capital of INR 2 million in December 1950.
Growth And Achievements Of The Company
The Company acquired two bulk carriers from Japan from 1981-82. One cement plant with a capacity of 1 MTPA had been set up in Maharashtra during 1983-84. In 1997, it established a joint venture with John Deere Pvt Ltd to manufacture farm tractors named L&T Deere India. The Company sold its cement assets to UltraTech Cement Ltd on April 1, 2003.
The Company was awarded many medals and trophies for their constant effort. During 2003-04 and 2004-05, they were awarded the Greentech Foundation's Gold Prize for Environmental Excellence. The Engineering Export Promotion Council offered a trophy for high exports. In 2005, the Ministry of Power presented its first prize for national energy conservation.
L&T completed the acquisition of Audco India Ltd. in 2013, and L&T IDPL was awarded a road project in Odisha worth Rs. 1293 crore. The L&T Group has won a contract with Saudi Aramco. L&T has been ranked as Asia's second-largest industrial Company regarding sustainability. An Excellence Award from Frost & Sullivan has been awarded to L&T Technology Services. L&T has been presented with the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Governance Excellence.
