Alembic Pharmaceuticals face manufacturing disruption in Sikkim due to flash floods
Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited has faced operational disruptions at its manufacturing facilities in Sikkim, India. The interruption is a result of flash floods in the region, triggered by a cloud burst.
Due to flash floods in the Teesta River, resulting from a cloud burst, water has entered Alembic Pharmaceuticals' manufacturing facility located in Namthang, South Sikkim. As a consequence, manufacturing operations at this facility have been disrupted, starting from October 4, 2023.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or harm to any personnel as a result of the flash floods and subsequent operational disruption.
While the extent of the loss and damage incurred is yet to be determined, Alembic Pharmaceuticals assures that all assets of the company are adequately insured. The necessary notifications have been made to insurance companies to initiate the assessment and claims process.
