For five years, India imposed on some Chinese steel with anti-dumping duties

According to a government notification, India on Monday imposed an anti-dumping duty on some Chinese steel for five years.

After the steel sector raised concerns about potential Chinese sellers' dumping, Nagendra Nath Sinha, India's secretary for steel, stated on September 4 that New Delhi was monitoring the situation regarding steel imports.

China sold 0.6 million metric tons of steel to India between April and July, an increase of 62% over the same time last year, making it the second-largest steel exporter to India behind South Korea.

India imported 2 million metric tons of finished steel overall during the period, which is a 23% increase from the previous year and the highest level since 2020.

India received mostly cold-rolled coil or sheets from China, the world's biggest exporter of steel.
