Hindustan Unilever Q4FY23 PAT up 12.9% at Rs2,600 crore on higher operating profits from beauty and home care
Hindustan Unilever reported 10.5% growth in net sales for the March 2023 quarter at Rs15,215 crore. The sale revenues were down -2.45% on a sequential basis and the sequential pressure came from a slowdown in rural demand in the March quarter as compared to the December quarter, especially in the beauty and skin care vertical.
In terms of yoy growth in the top line, the company saw growth of 18.8% in home care vertical at Rs5,637 crore, 10.8% in beauty and personal care at Rs5,257 crore as well as 2.6% growth in refreshments and foods vertical at Rs3,794 crore. The company did see some pressure on exports, but domestic demand stayed robust.

Net profits were up 12.9% at Rs2,600 crore in the fourth quarter helped by robust operating margins of 21.6%. In terms of verticals, the company saw double-digit growth in operating profits of the home care business at Rs1072 crore while the operating profits of the beauty and personal care vertical grew in single digits at Rs1,365 crore. The food and refreshments business actually saw operating profits lower on a YoY basis.
