Results for Bharti Airtel's first quarter, with its net profit remaining unchanged at Rs. 1,612 crore and ARPU at Rs. 200
On August 3, Bharti Airtel announced a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,612.5 crore and an increase of 0.34% over the same period last year.
A vital metric used by telecommunication companies for assessing revenue generation, the average revenue per user (ARPU) each month, climbed 9.28% YoY to Rs 200.
EBITDA was Rs 19,746 crore for the quarter, rising 18.9% YoY. EBITDA margin increased by 212 bps YoY to 52.7%. EBIT reached Rs 10,079 crore, up 29.0% YoY, while the EBIT margin increased by 310 bps YoY to 26.9%.
Business in India
Airtel India's revenue for the first quarter was Rs 26,375 crore, up 13.1% YoY. Due to better realization and significant YoY 4G user additions, mobile revenue increased by 12.4% YoY. The continued emphasis on recruiting quality clients and increased realizations as a result of premiumization are factors that drove the increase in ARPU.
Business in Africa
In constant currency, Airtel Africa's revenue increased by 20.4% YoY.
EBITDA margin increased by 83 bps YoY to 4%. EBIT margins at 33%.
In Africa, it has 143.1 million customers. Its capex for the continent for the quarter was Rs. 1,150 crore.
