Bajaj Auto's August total sales fell 15% YoY, due to low two-wheeler shipments
The two- and three-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Ltd. reported on Friday that its total sales for the month of August 2023 were down 15% YoY. The company's total vehicle sales fell to 3,41,648 units in August 2023 from 4,01,595 units in the same month the previous year.
While exports decreased 6% to 1,36,548 units from 1,44,840 units, YoY, total domestic sales dropped 20% to 2,05,100 units during the month from 2,56,755 units.
In August 2023, Bajaj Auto sold a total of 2,85,031 two-wheelers, a steep decline of 20% from the 3,55,625 units sold in August 2022. The domestic market, where sales of two-wheelers fell 31% YoY, was the main contributor to the reduction in two-wheeler sales. Two-wheeler exports increased 2%.
During the month, the commercial vehicle (CV) categories did well. Sales of CV grew by 23% YoY, from 45,970 to 56,617 units.
Domestic CV sales, which increased 93% YoY to 44,280 units, were the main contributor. CV exports decreased 46% YoY to 12,337 units.
