BHEL has successfully synchronized Unit-2 of the Maitree thermal power project in Bangladesh, with a capacity of 660 MW.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has achieved a significant milestone by synchronizing Unit-2, with a capacity of 660 MW, at the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in Rampal, Mongla, Bagerhat, Bangladesh. The Maitree STPP is being established by BHEL for the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (BIFPCL), a 50:50 joint venture between the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and NTPC Ltd.
This project symbolizes the successful cooperation between India and Bangladesh and is a priority infrastructure development initiative for Bangladesh, aiming to establish reliable, cost-effective, base-load power production in the country.
Synchronisation of a thermal power plant marks the beginning of electricity supply through the main grid at the prescribed parameters. The successful synchronisation of Unit-2 has been achieved ahead of the commitment given at a high-level G2G meeting, which was considered a challenging target.
BHEL's expertise and technological prowess in the power sector are evident through this project, reinforcing its position as a leading global player in providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
