EaseMyTrip partners with Cover Genius to offer enhanced travel protection

EaseMyTrip.com, one of India's leading online travel platforms, has announced a strategic partnership with Cover Genius, an insurtech company specializing in embedded protection.

Through this collaboration and integration with XCover, Cover Genius' renowned global distribution platform, EaseMyTrip customers will have the option to add Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel protection when booking their tickets, enhancing their travel experience.

CFAR protection has gained popularity among travelers and online travel agencies (OTAs) for its seamless refund process, eliminating the need for extensive paperwork. For OTAs like EaseMyTrip, it also removes the requirement for insurance licensing.

In today's travel landscape, purchasing travel protection is considered a necessity rather than a luxury. However, traditional insurers often lag behind in meeting the evolving needs of travelers. A recent survey conducted by Momentive.ai, commissioned by Cover Genius, revealed that 13% of Indian travelers who made claims related to the pandemic were not covered, despite having purchased travel insurance.

Additionally, 32% of Indian travelers expressed a preference for protection from embedded sources like their travel provider, agent, or airline, over traditional insurance sources like credit cards.

Rikant Pittie, Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, expressed, "With the growing demand for domestic and international travel, Cover Genius brings global expertise to curate tailor-made protection supported by AI. CFAR is a unique solution that provides assurance to our customers in unforeseen circumstances."

Barney Pierce, SVP, Strategic Partnerships, APAC for Cover Genius, noted, “Travel protection is no longer an afterthought; it's a must-have that should be ready to serve and encourage travelers to explore confidently. We are excited to partner with EaseMyTrip and offer innovative, dynamically priced, and easily accessible products to its customers.”
