ED attaches assets worth over ₹70 crore of DHFL promoters Wadhawans
As part of an investigation into money laundering, the Enforcement Directorate has temporarily attached assets worth ₹70.39 crore that belonged to former DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan. The assets that are attached include two Mumbai apartments, artwork, jewels, watches, and a stake in a helicopter. The Wadhawan family is charged with defrauding a group of 17 banks, headed by UBI, out of ₹34,615 crore. As of right present, ED has attached a total of ₹2,095.94 crore in this case.
According to ED, the attached assets include paintings and sculptures valued at ₹28.58 crore, watches worth ₹5 crore, diamond jewellery worth ₹10.71 crore, a 20% ownership stake in a helicopter valued at ₹9 crore, and two apartments in the Mumbai district of Bandra valued at ₹17.10 crore.
The money laundering case stems from an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
