Godrej Properties' arm fined by MCD for environmental violation

A subsidiary of Godrej Properties faces a penalty of Rs 5 lakh from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for failing to take environmental safety procedures during construction at this project site.

Godrej Properties said in a regulatory filing on Saturday that Godrej Vestamark LLP, a subsidiary, got an order under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act 1957 on October 16.

According to the filing, the subsidiary violated the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (2010) and the order of the NGT dated April 10, 2015, specifically in relation to the precautions that had to be taken during construction at the project in New Delhi.

Godrej Properties is one of the leading real estate firms in the country. It has a major presence in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Bengaluru.
