Maruti Suzuki August domestic sales grows 16% YoY to 1,56,114 units
Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), the largest manufacturer of passenger vehicles in the nation, announced on Friday that domestic sales of its products reached a record-high 1,56,114 units in August, up 16.35% YoY from the 1,34,166 units sold during the same period the previous year.
During the month, the company sold 58,746 utility vehicles (such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and Jimny), more than double the 26,932 units sold in August 2022.
The company sold 72,451 units in the Compact segment during the month as compared to 71,557 units during the same period last year (the compact segment includes Baleno, Swift, and WagonR).
However, compared to 22,162 units in August 2022, sales of the Mini category (Alto, S-Presso) substantially decreased to 12,209 units in August.
Additionally, sales of its van Eeco decreased by more than 1% YoY to 11,859 units during the month as opposed to 11,999 units during the same month last year.
Sales of the company's only commercial vehicle, the "Super Carry," fell 24% YoY to 2,564 units in August from 3,371 units in August 2022.
In all, the company sold 1,89,082 vehicles in August, including exports, up 14.47% YoY from the 1,65,173 sold in the same month the previous year.
