Maruti Suzuki has received a show cause notice from the customs department
Maruti Suzuki reported receiving a show cause notice from the customs department for a sum of Rs 16,27,085 in a regulatory filing on Monday. The automaker said in its regulatory filing that the customs department had claimed Maruti Suzuki had improperly obtained BCD concession based on the final use of the imported items from international suppliers, leading to a customs duty evasion of over 16 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki has added that the show-cause letter was delivered by the customs office on October 9, 2023. The automaker added that it would present the adjudicating body with a response to the show cause notice. The automaker added that the show cause notice had no effect on the business's finances, operations, or other operations.
This comes as the latest addition to the list of troubles Maruti Suzuki has been facing over the last few weeks. The show cause notice from the customs department for allegedly evading customs duty comes within days of Maruti Suzuki receiving an income tax notice and show cause notice from the GST Authority.
