Omega Seiki Mobility partners with Honda Power Pack Energy
Omega Seiki Mobility, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has joined forces with Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) to introduce battery swap technology into more than 10,000 passenger and cargo vehicles over the next two years.
In this collaboration, HEID, a subsidiary of the Japanese automotive giant Honda Motor, will supply swappable batteries for Omega Seiki Mobility's EVs and establish a network of quick interchange stations in Tier-I cities across India.
Honda's battery swap service allows auto rickshaw drivers to exchange depleted batteries with fully charged ones at strategically positioned battery stations. This technology significantly reduces initial EV acquisition costs, addresses concerns about range limitations, and cuts downtime associated with battery recharging.
Uday Narang, founder and Chairman of Omega Seiki Mobility, stated, "The swappable battery technology represents a paradigm shift, offering unparalleled efficiency and environmental advantages. It perfectly aligns with our vision of rapid, clean, and accessible electric transportation."
He added, "In the next two years, we intend to implement Honda's swap technology in over 10,000 vehicles in both passenger and cargo segments."
Furthermore, Omega Seiki Mobility mentioned that its upcoming electric three-wheelers, both for cargo and passengers, will feature Honda's intelligent swappable batteries utilizing advanced lithium-ion technology.
