RITES Inks Pact with Bangladesh Railway to Supply 200 Passenger Coaches

State-owned RITES Limited on Monday, May 20 signed a contract with Bangladesh Railways for supplying 200 broad-gauge passenger carriages to Bangladesh Railways. The company won an approximately 915 crore rupees contract from the European Investment Bank, via a global competitive bidding.

Besides supply, RITES will also offer its expertise in design, spare parts support and training. ‘The contract has a supply with a commissioning period of 36 months, followed by a warranty period of 24 months,’ RITES in a statement said.

 

The contract highlights RITES’s commitment to fostering growth through the export of indigenously developed world-class railway rolling stock. The company has been an old partner in Bangladesh's path to infrastructure development.

 

Before this, RITES had supplied 120 BG Passenger Coaches, 36 BG locomotives and 10 Meter Gauge locomotives to Bangladesh Railways, besides collaborating on other infrastructure projects.
