Titagarh Rail Systems gets Rs 857 crore Gujarat Metro Rail contract

On Tuesday, October 3, Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), formerly Titagarh Waggons Ltd, announced that the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (GMRC) has awarded the company a contract to produce 72 standard gauge cars.

According to a stock exchange filing, these metro carriages would be used in the Surat Metro Rail Project's initial phase.

The full range of design, manufacture, delivery, testing, commissioning, and training for these metro cars is covered by the contract. About Rs 857 crore is the expected order value for this project.

 

The execution of this Agreement shall commence 76 weeks after the date hereof and shall be completed within 132 weeks afterwards.

The senior management at TRSL that these state-of-the-art metro cars will be manufactured at the company’s cutting-edge facility in Utarpara, located in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India.

 

TRSL has decided to expand its capacities at a capex of about Rs 650 crore in the next couple of years, a large sum of which is already invested and bearing fruit. Titagarh has already received a letter of acceptance for 30 standard gauge cars for phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, the senior management added.
