- Wendt (India) Limited was incorporated on August 21, 1980 as a Joint Venture between Wendt GmbH and The House of Khataus.
- In 1991, Carborundum Universal Ltd (CUMI) of Murugappa Group acquired the Khataus stake in the business.
- Since then till May 2025, Wendt has been a 37.50%& 37.50% Joint Venture between Wendt GmbH and CUMI. Post divestment by Wendt GmbH, CUMI holds the 37.5% and the public holds the balance 62.5% equity.
- Wendt was established mainly to cater the requirement of Cutting Tool Industry and commenced its Commercial production in December 1983. Wendt provides high end manufacturing service as a perfect complement to today's high-tech industries.
