Tejas Networks Ltd. announced signing a deal Rs 7,500 crore with TCS
In order to provide 4G equipment to BSNL networks, Tejas Networks Ltd. announced that it has signed a deal with Tata Consultancy Services for around Rs 7,500 crore.
Tejas Networks reported in a filing to the stock exchanges that the company has signed a contract with TCS, a related party, for the purchase order for the supply of radio access network (RAN) equipment for BSNL's 4G and 5G networks throughout India.
The company informed the exchanges that the supply deal is valued at Rs 7,492 crore (about $900 million).
Around 100,000 BSNL locations throughout India will receive 4G/5G RAN equipment from the Tata Group company.
According to Tejas Networks, the equipment will be supplied between 2023 and 2024, and support and maintenance will be provided for a nine-year post-warranty period.
The company has approval from its shareholders for the abovementioned transaction with TCS because it involves a related party.
Tejas Networks stated that it won the order by completing strict tests as part of a consortium led by TCS. Tejas Networks will be the exclusive provider of 4G/5G RAN equipment for one of the biggest mobile networks in the world.
In May 2023, BSNL issued an advance purchase order worth more than Rs 15,000 crore to a TCS-led consortium that included Tejas Networks for the deployment of a 4G network across India.
For speedier mobile internet services, the state-run BSNL is utilizing 4G core technology that was developed domestically by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).
