NSE introduces NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas Options

The NSE will soon offer options tied to the NYMEX's West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil and natural gas in its commodity derivatives section. The move comes following approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

In May 2023, NSE successfully launched rupee-denominated NYMEX WTI crude oil and natural gas futures, which received positive feedback. Over the past four months, more than 100 trading members from diverse regions actively participated in these futures contracts.

Now, the addition of options on these future contracts is poised to further enrich NSE's product lineup in the broader commodity segment. These contracts aim to offer market participants a more efficient means of managing commodity-related risks, as stated in an official release by the exchange.

NSE's Chief Business Development Officer, Sriram Krishnan, expressed his delight in this development, scheduled to take effect by October 2023. The move reflects NSE's commitment to enhance its offerings with innovative tools in the evolving commodity landscape.
