Why to link Pan & Aadhaar?

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced that linking your Income Tax PAN to your Aadhaar is mandatory by 30th June 2023. If you do not comply, your PAN will become defunct from 01st July 2023. You will not be able to file income tax returns or invest in stocks through DEMAT accounts. If you do not link PAN to Aadhaar by 30th June 2023, you can be subjected to additional scrutiny, penalties, and denial of services. you cannot file tax returns with inoperative PAN, pending refunds get stalled, losses cannot be adjusted and you cannot transact in capital markets.
