BSE Bankex share price

BSE Bankex offers a complete perspective of India's leading banks, while certain indices, such as the BSE Sensex, BSE 100, BSE 200, and BSE 500, are comprehensive indices that include stocks from all sectors to reflect the entire breadth of the economy.

More than 90% of the market capitalization of the banking industry is made up of the top banking stocks that are included in the BSE 500 list and are included in the S&P BSE Bankex today. In June 2003, the BSE Bankex index was introduced to monitor the banking industry's performance.

History of BSE Bankex

The BSE decided to create a separate index called the s&p bse bankex index for banking equities on June 16th, 2003. Bank equities were gaining good ground in the equity markets, and Indian banking was reaching new heights of stability and strength.

Its base value is 1000 points, and its base date is January 1st, 2002. The index consisted of twelve equities that accounted for 90% of the market capitalization of banking sector stocks listed on the BSE.

How is BSE Bankex Calculated?

The BSE Bankex components are rebalanced semi-annually in June and December every year. Since the banking stocks chosen for the BSE Bankex index are a subset of the BSE 500, the same criteria are followed for the banking stocks as is followed in the case of BSE 500. A stock shall qualify for inclusion in the BSE 500, provided it fulfils the following criteria:

  • Businesses have to be a part of the BSE All Cap index for a minimum of six months.
  • For the previous six months, the equities must have been actively traded on the BSE for at least 80% of the trading sessions.
  • Average trading value of the company should exceed ₹1 billion.

Next, a shortlist of the banking stocks that are included in the BSE 500 is created by ranking them. As of right now, the BSE Bankex is calculated using 10 banking stocks. However, the index employs adjusted weights in place of free-float market cap weights.

You can monitor the share price of the bse bankex live on the BSE for real-time updates and trends.

How to invest in BSE Bankex stocks?

  • You can just take an index fund and invest in the stocks in direct proportion to their weight.
  • ETFs and index funds—both of which follow the performance of the BSE Bankex Index—are available.
