The Nifty Midcap 150 Momentum 50 Index was established on April 1, 2005, with a base value of 1000. • Be a constituent of the Nifty 500 index.
  • Have an investable weight factor (IWF) of at least 0.10 (10% free float) or a 6-month average free float market capitalization of at least 25% of the 6-month average full market capitalisation of the smallest component of the current index. Calculation of the Nifty Midcap 150 Index

A company’s weightage in the Nifty Midcap 150 index depends on its free-float market capitalisation. Here’s how it is calculated:

  1. Free-Float Market Capitalisation: Multiply the company’s stock price by the number of shares readily available in the market.
    • For example, if a company has 100,000 shares available and the stock price is Rs. 30, the free-float market capitalisation is Rs. 30 lakh.
  2. Index Composition: Although the Nifty Midcap 150 index includes companies ranked 101-250 based on full market capitalisation from the Nifty 500 index, a company’s weight in the index is determined by its free-float market capitalisation. If you are interested in mid-cap investments, you should look up the Nifty Midcap 150 stocks list to see which companies are included in the index.

Stock Selection Criteria

  • Eligibility: Stocks within the Nifty Midcap 150 are considered for inclusion. However, non-F&O stocks with a circuit filter hit of 20% or more on at least 20% of trading days in the past 6 months are ineligible.
  • Selection: A strong Normalised Momentum Score is used to choose 50 stocks.
