About NLC India Ltd
- NLC India Limited, (formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) was incorporated on 14th November, 1956 as a Private Limited Company under the house of Government of India (GOI), which went to public on 7th March, 1986.
- The Company name was changed from Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited to NLC India Limited on 8 March, 2016.
- Presently, NLCIL is engaged in the business of mining of Lignite, Coal and generation of power by using lignite as well as Renewable Energy Sources and consultancy.
- It operates 3 opencast lignite mines of total capacity of 30.1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu and 1 open cast lignite Mine of capacity 2.1 million TPA at Barsingsar, in Rajasthan.
- The shareholding of the President of India as on 31.03.2024 in the Company is 72.20% In year 1986, a supplementary feasibility report for first mine expansion and a report on setting up a Power Station of 2 x 210 MW were submitted to the Government of India.
