Welspun Investments and Commercials Limited was originally incorporated on October 7, 2008 as a private limited company with the name Welspun Investments Private Limited.
On October 10, 2008, the company was converted into a public limited company and the name was changed to Welspun Investments Limited and finally the Company name changed to Welspun Investments and Commercials Limited on March 31, 2010. The Company is engaged in business of Investment and dealing in shares and securities and trading of textile products and commodities.
The Company holds equity shares mainly in Welspun Group companies which are engaged in the business of SAW Pipes & Steel Plates, Infra and Steel.
The trading segment relies on the economic scenario and the demand of the respective products while on the other hand the investment segment relies on the economic developments and the performance of the investee company - its profits, dividend and stock prices.

About Williamson Financial Services Ltd

Williamson Financial Services Limited, formerly known as 'The Makum Tea Co. (India) Limited' was incorporated on December 17, 1971 in the State of Assam and it received the Certificate of Commencement of Business on August 18, 1972 from the Registrar of Companies, Assam.
The Company was acquired as a going concern undertaking in India of The Makum (Assam) Tea Company Limited, UK. The main activity was growing, cultivation and manufacturer of tea. In accordance with a Scheme of Arrangement approved by the shareholder of the erstwhile, Makum Tea Co. (India) Limited and McLeod Russel (India) Limited. and confirmed by the Hon'ble High Courts at Guwhati and Calcutta the three tea estates of the Company viz.
Dehing, Dirok and Margherita Tea Estates were transferred to McLeod Russel (India) Limited with effect from April 1, 1994.
